Does your gym's free-trial booking work on a phone at night?
Short answer: A lot of people look for a gym on their phone, often in the evening when your front desk is closed. If your trial booking only works well on a computer, or needs a phone call during business hours, those people may give up and pick another gym. Test it yourself tonight: open your site on your phone, on mobile data, and try to book a trial from start to finish. If anything is slow, tiny, broken or confusing, fix that first.
The 5-minute phone test
- Open your website on your phone using mobile data, not Wi-Fi.
- Find the trial or booking button without scrolling far.
- Fill in the form with your thumb. Are the boxes big enough?
- Does it work without making an account or downloading an app?
- Do you get a confirmation right away, by text or email?
Common fixes
- Put the booking button at the top and repeat it lower on the page.
- Use your booking tool's mobile page if your own form is clunky.
- Remove pop-ups that cover the form on small screens.
- Let people book online at any hour instead of "call us".
- Send an automatic confirmation, then follow up personally the next morning.

Questions
What if I want people to call instead?
Offer both. Some people will not call, especially at night. An online option catches them.
How do I know if my booking page is slow?
Try it on your phone on mobile data. Google's free PageSpeed Insights tool also shows how fast a page loads on mobile.
