Gym website checklist: 15 things every gym site needs

Short answer: A good gym website tells a visitor within seconds what you offer, who it is for, where you are, what it costs and how to try it, and lets them book on their phone. The essentials: a clear headline with your town, one free-trial offer and button, online booking, a text schedule, a starting price, real reviews, address and phone as text, a Google Maps link, an FAQ, mobile-friendly fast pages, HTTPS, schema markup, a sitemap, social links, and no broken links.

The checklist

  • Headline says what you are and where: "Strength & conditioning gym in [Town]".
  • One main offer above the fold (free class, intro week) with one button.
  • Online booking link that works on a phone.
  • Class schedule as text (not only an image or PDF).
  • Starting price or membership range.
  • Real reviews or member stories, with permission, plus a link to your Google reviews.
  • Address and phone in the footer as text, matching Google.
  • Link to your Google Business Profile / Maps.
  • FAQ with real questions and short answers.
  • Mobile-friendly layout and fast loading (compress photos).
  • HTTPS everywhere.
  • Title and meta description that include your town.
  • LocalBusiness / ExerciseGym and FAQPage schema.
  • robots.txt and sitemap.xml that let Google and AI tools in.
  • Links to active Instagram / Facebook / YouTube, and no broken links.

A clear first step (free trial or intro offer) with an easy booking button. Everything else supports that.

Should I use a template from Wix or Squarespace?

Any modern builder works if the content above is there, the site loads fast on mobile and the booking link works.
